Recipe for marinade:

¼ cup of ketchup

¼ cup of rice wine vinegar

¼ cup of soy sauce

¼ cup of hoisin sauce

¼ cup of honey

¼ cup of brown sugar

¼ cup of Chinese cooking wine or sherry

2 tablespoon of chopped garlic

1 tablespoon of chopped ginger

1 teaspoon of Chinese 5 spice powder

Mix all ingredients together.


Cut up ribs into small pieces

Boil rib pieces for about 20 minutes or use pressure cooker for 10 minutes

Remove ribs and add to oven proof dish or pan.  Add  marinade  and bake in preheated oven at 200 degrees for approximately 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally , until marinade thickens and gets sticky.  Serve with rice.


You can also fry the rib pieces instead of boiling, but they won’t be as tender.
